Electric PGO BuBu Now For Sale

June 23rd, 2009 - PGO's first electric scooter, the e-BuBu has finally hit the sales floor in Asia. The Bubu (affectionately known as the Genuine Buddy in the USA) has some very interesting features including a hot-swappable battery pack, 2-wheel drive, and dual disc brakes. As with any cutting edge product there are definitely some downsides. First and foremost is the range. While 20 miles isn't a bad start, the range is only about 1/3 of the range of a typical gas BuBu. PGO claims that performance is very similar to the 50cc gas powered version, but e-Bubu's top speed of 37MPH leads us to believe the performance may even be better than it's gas cousin (at least while the battery still has a full charge). The e-Bubu is powered both front and rear hub motors which should prove to feel more stable and planted than a traditional 1-wheel drive scooter. Although there are no plans to bring the e-Bubu in the USA at this time, it's only a matter of when and not if an electric scooter from PGO makes it to the states.
