2009 Dealer Expo: SYM Symba
![]()
The SYM Symba is one of 2009's most anticipated scooters and I'd say the bike lives up to its quickly growing hype. The bike features a 101cc engine, auto clutch, four-speed transmission, and has an array of cool options. It has several updates when compared to its inspiration, the most significant being the addition of modern telescopic forks. Off the show room floor the buyer will get the two seat split setup (the rear seat is removable to expose the cargo rack) and but there will be an option for a one-piece two passenger seat similar to US spec Super Cubs and Passports that is pictured below.
Other options for the bike are going to include a basket for the front and saddle bags for the rear. The Symba is being manufactured in Taiwan and looked to be of equal quality to the big four Japanese manufacturers. The bike has 17" wheels (hooray!), a claimed top speed of 49.9MPH, and weighs 209LBS. While the Symba isn't an exact copy of the classic Super Cub, it is a great modern interpratation and features several new design cues. The SYM Symba has a MSRP of $2598 and should begin to arrive in showrooms from late April to early May 2009. Hopefully a test drive will be in our future. Stay tuned for updates of the new SYM Symba.
