2009 Dealer Expo: e-Max Electric Scooters

Germany's e-Max showcased their latest 2009 electric scooter at the Indy Dealer Expo and this "Light Hopper" concept caught our attention. It's obviously electric, powered by modular lithium-ion (modular to facilitate quick removal and replacement) batteries but the real interesting thing was its' weight. Most electric scooters tend to be obeasely overweight, but not the Light Hopper. It weighs in at a jockey-like 143lbs (well for an electric scooter).
The Light Hopper has a range of 16-27 miles, a top speed of 30MPH, and take 2.5-4 hours to charge a fully depleted battery. This model is just a concept at this point but I think it could be a very successful grocery getter. Details for a possible release were not available at the show. Stay tuned for more updates on eMax's new electric scooters.
