Schwinn Scooters Sold to Tomberlin Group

June 23th, 2009 - Schwinn Scooters was recently sold to Tomberlin Business Group (who you may remember from their distribution of the Tomberline Madass). Tomberlin is based in Augusta, GA and as part of the deal, Tomberlin purchased "a mixture of various assets" and acquired a "licensing agreement" according to Mike Tomberlin. Although Tomberline purchased an insignificant amount of vehicles in the deal, the real asset is the 400+ dealers they acquired.
George Simone, Schwinn's sales and marketing vice president will continue to head the sales and marketing efforts for Tomberlin. Mike Tomberlin stated he expects to be able to integrate the Schwinn operation into his existing powersports business and he expects to add value by improving Schwinn's sourcing operations in Asia. Hopefully this means some Tomberlin will be conducting some real product development instead of copying/stealing other generic Chinese scooters as Schwinn had developed a reputation for in the past. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the sale of Schwinn Scooters to Tomberlin Group.
